Resuscitation

The HS Anderson Mad Cat is still alive because one man had a vision. Here is the story about Dany Meeuwissen and his journey to bring the Mad Cat back to life. 

"When music triggers a life-changing event, you listen. I vividly remember when exactly the seeds that would grow into the Vintage Re-issue Mad Cat guitar were planted and grew.
July 10, 2010, Werchter Belgium, 20Ten tour.
I was already obsessed with that sound since the Musicology album and “One Nite Alone… Live!” Box set. But that night in 2010, it was the first time I heard the Mad Cat in person, and he used it on every song.
It finally made sense. That unmistakable sound that was all over the radio when growing up in the 80s and that made me a devoted fanboy was not a studio trick but it was in THAT guitar."

I found out Hohner didn’t make the Mad Cat but it was produced by H.S. Anderson in Japan. Luckily, I found an original from 1979 In Germany. Around the same time, I contacted Moridaira, the parent company of H.S. Anderson, but also Morris acoustic guitars. At that time, they were just launching the 45th anniversary Mad Cat in Japan. So I bought the last 16 of those and started worldwide distribution.

But something wasn’t right. Although the new Mad Cats were excellent guitars, they were definitely not the same as my 1979. When I raised this topic, it turned out most details from that time period were lost.
So we started a partnership. I would supply Moridaira with the specs to recreate a vintage re-issue model and they would let me handle the worldwide distribution for them.
